There are two main ways to try quitting smoking.
One way is to stop completely. You set a quit date and stop altogether on this date.
The other way is to cut down. You set your quit date and then reduce the amount you smoke gradually until this date, and then you stop completely. Or you might reduce now and set a quit date when you feel more ready.
Whatever option you choose, we can help you. Here's how...
Stop completely with a Health Coach
We are up to three times more likely to succeed with specialist support.
You can join six sessions with an expert Health Coach in Leeds. They will use the latest, evidenced-based behavioural change support and medication to help you.
Your six sessions can be one-to-one or as part of a group of other people working towards the same goal.
As well as your support sessions, our service includes:
- Carbon Monoxide (CO) breath tests to track the progress you are making
- A course of free vapes / e-cigarette supplies
- A course of free Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) supplies
- Access to support communities and regular check-ins to keep you going
- Prescription only medication (e.g. Zyban)
Stop completely by yourself
Some people have success going it alone or with light-touch support.
We have free resources available to support your attempt. These have been developed to provide you with the most recent expert advice and guidance. They can give you the best chance of succeeding alone.
Even though you might choose to go it alone, one of our Health Coaches can still arrange to check-in and see how you are getting on.
Our service includes:
- Free support resources full of expert advice and guidance
- Two free check-in sessions with a Health Coach
- Access to online community support and apps
- Regular check-ins for up to a year after your quit date to help you keep going
Stop completely with a group
Attending a group session can be motivating and rewarding, the support of others who are also quitting smoking with you means that you won’t feel on your own.
You will join a ‘starting out’ session which includes an introduction to the group programme. This is followed by 6 group sessions, which focus on a key topic each week. At the end of each session you will have the opportunity for a confidential 1:1 conversation with a coach to discuss treatment options.
As well as your support sessions, our service includes:
- Free support resources full of expert advice and guidance
- More time with a coach than a 1:1 appointment
Cut down by yourself
Cutting down alone allows you the flexibility to change your habits in your own time.
We have free resources available if you think this might work for you. Our resources provide expert advice and guidance on the best ways to try reduce the amount you smoke and move closer to stopping completely.
If it doesn’t quite work out for you then you can try stopping completely with a Health Coach instead.
