Seeing it through- Debbies’ Story

19 Mar 2026

Debbie was referred to Leeds Stop Smoking Service having previously quit smoking for two years. Debbie was motivated to stop again due to concerns about her health and finances. With support from her Health Coach, she began her journey to quit smoking once more, determined to improve her wellbeing and break free from the cycle.

“I felt quite confident when I first contacted the service. I’ve tried quitting before and managed two years, but stress led me back to smoking. At first, I felt okay, but then I started getting repeat chest infections, and I knew something had to change. I tried most options, but the inhalator works best for me. I found the verbal support really helpful, talking things through made a big difference."

Leeds Stop Smoking Service offers free, personalised support to help people quit smoking for good. Whether through one-to-one coaching, group sessions, or tailored treatment options like nicotine replacement therapy, the service is designed to meet individuals where they are in their journey. Coaches provide practical advice, emotional support, and regular check-ins to help clients stay on track and overcome challenges.

“Stress at home has been a major challenge, and I haven’t fully overcome it yet. The service provided by Leeda Stop Smoking is perfect for anyone who needs help and support—but you have to want it.”

“I haven’t quit completely yet; I’m still on and off with smoking. But I fully intend to be smoke free as soon as possible. My lungs are begging me. I haven’t rewarded myself with the money I’ve saved yet, but I know that will come once I’ve made it through.”

“I’m proud of the steps I’ve taken and grateful for the support I’ve received. This journey isn’t over, but I’m committed to seeing it through.”
