We now offer Varenicline

Varenicline is now being considered for smokers accessing behavioural support through Leeds Stop Smoking Services. All prescription requests for the medication are emailed to the patients GP practice following an assessment by a Smoking Cessation Practitioner.

What is Varenicline?

Varenicline is a safe, effective and cost-effective treatment for smoking cessation in adults. It is available in the UK as a prescription-only medication, in combination with motivational support in nicotine-dependent patients. Varenicline is a first line stop smoking aid and is recommended by NICE for treatment of tobacco dependence and is one of the most effective treatments available to help people quit smoking. The service also offers Cytisine, Zyban, vapes or a choice of NRT alongside behavioural support tailored to suit each patient.
